MERRY CHRISTMAS/HAPPY HOLIDAYS from GUATEMALA

Jason Harlow, Reid Fleming and John Musselman.

Over the past weekend we welcomed John Musselman from Midlands, Texas, back for his third year in a row here to Guatemala this time bringing good friends Jason Harlow and Reid Fleming as pictured above. John still has the touch and Jason and Reid were keen to learn pitch baiting techniques to billfish off the teasers. We were lucky our first day out with some hot teaser fish providing plenty of practice! The runs were long though we had some beautiful weather out there and one of the first fish into the spread was a blue of around 300lb that slashed at the short teaser, sat under it and refused the pitched mackerel. We worked that area hard before running down the edge to a good afternoon bite. The guys fished real well picking up the 'touch', dropping back nicely converting a good hook up ratio to bites off the teasers. 25 bites with the majority in a 2 hour period after lunch as well as 4 big mahi's in the 30-35lb range.
Flat seas, beautiful temp and big aggressive sailfish, perfect combo!!

Our second morning out we encountered a large group of spinner dolphins, birds were working them and tunas busting up ahead of the pod. It looked good and we worked the area for a good, fun way to start the day. As usual the first few passes were the most productive with the fish becoming a bit finiky after that and we pulled a few off after some 'soft' bites. Still we boated 5 nice school sized yellow-fins before pushing off looking for the bite. Radio chatter was low down to the west where the previous days action was concentrated so we looked to the east and found fairly steady activity down that way with 18 sailfish bites for the day. Some more great teaser fish with a few rigger bites as well to mix it up and another great weekend of fishing here in Guatemala with 27 sailfish released from 43 bites and 50 raised, add 4 big mahi's and 5 yellow-fins for the table and life is good!! A great learning experience was had and the guys picked it up quickly fishing well and having a fun time while at it. That's what it's about and what makes Guatemala the number one destination, the amount of shots your going to get and how much you are going to learn in a short amount of time.....

We have a few days off before Christmas with both boats getting back out there soon after, fishing fairly steadily from the 27th on. There are still some dates open in January, the hot month of the year last season and few in February as well, things are moving so make sure you do!!

Happy Holidays to everyone out there, be safe and if you want to enjoy some of the best billfishing on the planet get hold of us:

FISHING THROUGH DECEMBER 8th

Nice fat blue for Allure II
Both boats were out there fishing December 6th though the 8th and enjoyed good fishing in different areas, always a good thing having different bites to choose from and both producing good numbers! On Friday the 6th we took out Allure with Team Wisconsin while Hill Dishman took the helm of Allure II with anglers Casey McDermand, Ryan Pyburn and Trent Marino. The fishing had been very good offshore so we chased that while Allure II stopped at 25NM on the side of the pocket raising a triple header right off the bat. On Allure we went out wide to the edge looking for the bite from the previous days, the current out there was pushing to the west pretty good and we found the blue water and fish mid-morning about 10NM from where they were the previous day. It was worth it out there with a good steady bite all day long with 24 releases from 36 bites as well as 5 big mahi's. Good times for Team Wisconsin!!
Back in-shore the fishing was also very good with Hill and the team having 25 sailfish bites and releasing 14 of those. The highlight of the day was Trent getting the bite from a good solid 350lb blue marlin on the rigger bait. A real nice fish on 30lb test for Trent and Hill doing a great job on the wheel.
Nice shot and nice fish on the 30lb

Mate, Enio on the leader.
Team Wisconsin had such a great day they decided to stay on for an extra day and Julio took them back out on Allure. Back to the days previous bite at the 25NM mark they made the most of their opportunities releasing 20 sails from 25 bites. On Allure II we went wide chasing the bite, the fish had moved 14NM down the edge and were not as concentrated as the day before. It was still steady fishing though quite a bit slower, good averages for Casey, Trent and Ryan missing just 3 fish releasing 13 from 16 bites.
On our last day out we split up the guys between the both boats having a mini tournament with Casey and Trent heading out with Julio on Allure and Hill and Ryan on Allure II. Allure went back to the 25NM fishing hole while we went out to the east looking for a new bite. The fishing dropped off some for the whole fleet with boats spread far and wide looking for the fish. Our first of the day was a great catch though, this nice bull mahi on the fly for Hill.....
Pretty tough going from there on in, we covered some ground and raised a double, teasing one in for Hill on the fly and getting the other on a bait for Ryan. We landed another nice mahi and that was our day. With tournament rules having a sail on the fly worth 3 pts and on conventional 1 pt we came back to the dock with 4pts. Allure had the same, they saw 2 and caught 2, both on the conventional tackle.....(we set them up there). Slow fishing to finish off but fun times out there and a big night down at CafĂ© No Se in Antigua to round off an excellent weekend here in Guatemala.
2nd from left, Ryan Pyburn, Hill Dishman, Trent Marino and Casey McDermand

The water was a bit cooler and off-colour to the east though things should start cleaning up and getting back to normal here soon. Allure II is back out there in the coming days so more reports to come.
We are counting down to the big annual New Years eve bash here at Sailfish Oasis with the Blue Dawgs confirmed to play once again. Anyone wanting to come down and enjoy the festivities is more than welcome, it is always a blast.
Apart from that we have January 6th through the 9th open as well as some dates at the end of January, prime dates!

THANKSGIVING through 30th NOV

Nice big sail at the end of day one
From Thankgiving day on through Saturday the 30th we fished with solo angler Amanda Thompson. A super keen fisho she has spent time this year in Cape Verde, Nova Scotia and on the Reef in Aussie as well as Alaska! This was her second trip this year down to the Oasis fishing on Allure. Our first day out we found some nice water out to the west and worked the drop off out there hard, good conditions though nothing much going on out there. A move back in-shore to 400ft of water and we started to see some fish at the end of the day raising 7 sails and Amanda did a great job missing just one fish going 4 from 5 bites.
Friday 29th, with the current pushing to the east and everything seeming to move that way we started about 10NM to the east of where we had finished off and were soon into a few bites. With the big cold front pushing down from the US through the Gulf we had a stiff ENE wind blowing the whole day. The afternoon doing the opposite of what it normally does here in Guate and picking up even harder and making conditions sporty out there. We worked the area hard and the fish were biting steady through the whole day. Keen to hone her skills pitch-baiting off the teasers she did just that missing just one fish off the teasers and that one threw the hook jumping, the other misses came off the long rigger baits and mostly because of multiple hits. 25 fish up in the spread and 21 bites today with 16 releases, an awesome day and great percentages in trying conditions!!
                               Great shot from day 2
Our last day out we mixed it up as she was keen to give it a try on the fly rod, her first try saltwater flyfishing. We moved further to the east and more to the middle of the pocket today, the current had started to push more off-shore and it wasn't till later in the afternoon that we found the fish. In the morning session we raised a few sails though they were hard to tease all the way in. Our first fish of the day was a 20lb bull mahi. A great catch on the fly!
Nice bull mahi on the fly!!

We did release one sail on the fly in the morning session from 2 bites with the other one jumping off just before the release. Later in the afternoon we found some fish further off-shore and enjoyed a great last 2 hours of the day. The fish were still kind of tough to tease in, some coming in hot, the majority slow and not biting, more slashing their bills at the fly. We got some good practice in though and things came together well, we ended up raising 15 sails, 7 bit the fly with 3 jumping off and the other pulling the hooks soon after the bite. 3 billfish releases on the fly from 7 bites on your first attempt is good stuff seeing the fish were not biting aggressively as well. Nice going!
And the results, nice going Amanda.....
All in all, 3 great days on the water. The conditions laid down nicely in the afternoon and weather wise things should get back to normal in the coming days. Water conditions should also improve with a lot of patchy water out there coming right as the winds lay down.

We have just received news of a cancelation in January, some prime dates are now open in what was the best month of the year last season. Get in touch with us here at liz@sailfishoasissportfishing.com to secure these before they go.

Hope to see you down here to experience billfishing at its best!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

We fished both boats this last weekend with ALLURE I having a last minute booking with team Casa Vieja Lodge in the PCCA fished Friday through Sunday. Team CVL consisting of David Salazar, Jim Turner and Albert Castro enjoyed some good fishing with Capt Julio Morales on ALLURE I. At the end of day 2 they were well on-line for a shot at the title in 3rd spot overall with 32 releases. Day 3 proved to be one of those days out there where some of the boats had the hum, and others didn't. Top boat Intensity had a 12 fish lead going into the last day though couldn't get it going and missed out by one fish to travelling boat Tranquilo, Intensity came in 2nd with Capt Hook 3rd, all one fish apart closely followed by Team CVL and ALLURE I. Though they missed out the guys in Team CVL had a blast out there and were raving about the boat, Capt and crew.

On ALLURE II we welcomed back good friends and regulars down here to Guatemala Capt Mick Childs from Hawaii and (Jimmy) James Cambridge residing in Flamingo, Costa Rica. With other commitments they chose not to fish the PCCA this time around concentrating on 'fun' fishing instead....and fun they had. Friends from way back, they had a great time on the water and back at the lodge keeping Nick on his toes and busy behind the bar....
To the fishing, first day out, Thursday 21st we worked our way out to the middle of the pocket about 25NM out finding nice water and at about mid-morning a big pod of spinner dolphin with birds and tunas busting. A request for sashimi resulted in 11 tunas boated, enough for the bin so we moved on looking for the bills after having a blast catching those...
Jimmy and Mick with lunch and dinner.
Looking to the east and off-shore proved fruitless so we ran back to the west to the middle of the pocket and found some sails biting there. The guys got into their grove early on and missed few fish, most of the action coming in the last 2 hours of the day they released 11 from 17 bites and missed a 200lb blue that came in hot. Nice day out there!
James Cambridge with a beauty before release.
Friday the guys headed to Guatemala City and Antigua for a break and some business. Back out on the water the following day, Saturday proved a bit of an ask after a big night down at the Lodge with manager Nick.....A few too many tequilas and rums meant a late start for the guys though we made it out to the fleet by about 10.00am and were into the fish soon after. The action stayed steady out there, a few more sancocho's today, though, not all of them attributed to Nick, just some plane bad luck as well. 14 sails from 23 bites and 5 yellowfin tunas, not bad at all seeing we pulled up lines and came in early as well...
                                   Capt Mick and mate, Enio.
As always with Mick and James we had a full on good time with them enjoying the last day of their stay in Antigua.

Happy Thanksgiving to all out there from the team at the Lodge and the crews on the boats. We are fishing Thursday through Saturday, looking forward to some more great fishing off-shore. More reports to come. November has been an awesome month here so far and things are shaping up for the season ahead. We still have a couple of prime dates available in January and February, they'll get snapped up soon so get in touch with:

FISHING NOV 11th and16th-17th

KANGIESER GROUP 16th-17th NOVEMBER

Back row: Brad Kangieser, John and John JR D'Angelo, Hunter Lane and Meredith Hoffman
Front row: David Hoffman, Morgan Kangieser and  Kaitlin Porter.....MIA Michael Lane.

We hosted this father and daughter/son group for a couple of great days here in Guatemala on ALLURE and ALLURE II. Brad and Michael have been down before and introduced our fishery to their sons and daughters as well as Brad's niece Kaitlin. The group had a blast here catching sailfish and mahi mahi, including a couple of triple headers and one quintuplet hook up on the last day. One of the fish 'chewed' through the leader though we landed the other 4 sails. As well as this on ALLURE they had 2 blue marlin bites with a bit of bad luck, one getting bill wrapped and the other pulling the hook. Still an awesome trip for the group form Houston releasing 41 sails form 52 bites and boating several nice mahi's.
                                           Great boat-side shot
The crew had a blast down at the lodge with Nick and the staff and we had some wonderful comments:
Absolutely amazing trip! The food was incredible, drinks were amazing and the fishing even better!!
John D'Angelo
                                       First day double header....

I just wanted to send a quick note to thank you all for the past weekend.  Everyone in the group had a great time and told me that it was well above any of their expectations.  The staff at the lodge were terrific as usual and really helped us out at the pizza party for the local school. Thanks again for a great time. Cheers and tight lines!
Brad Kangieser
Father and daughter David and Meredith Hoffman.

                                                         MONDAY 11th NOVEMBER
ALLURE II took out close friends Stephanie Choate and Lizzie ............ for a one day pre-tourney fish. The bite was still on at around the 40NM mark and girls fished well, mixing it up between the fly and conventional they released 18 on the baits and a couple on the fly. Both experienced fishos it was their first time on the fly and they both got into em, releasing one each. Congrats and nice going!!
The fishing remained very good during the week for the Guatemalan International Tournament with over 900 billfish releases over 4 days through Saturday for the 15 boats participating. November proving once again to be a great month here in Guatemala.

We are out again tomorrow, more reports to come. Still openings available in December and even a few prime dates in January and February....

HOT FISHING NOVEMBER 8th-9th

The bite is on here in Guatemala!! Friday the 8th and Saturday the 9th we fished Larry Fagg and Wayne Beason for their second trip down to the OASIS, this time bringing good friend James Bilberry all from Beaumont, Texas to fish on ALLURE II. The guys timed their trip to perfection. On our first day out we started to the west of straight out and had a slowish start though after meandering further to the east in the middle of the pocket about 41-42NM out we had a red hot afternoon. Double headers and triples had the guys releasing 20 in the late afternoon session bring their total for the day to 30 releases for the day as well as a nice mahi mahi for Larry.
James, Wayne and Larry after an epic 2 days of billfishing...
We ran to where the previous days action ended and got into some bites straight away. There is a lot of fish out there over a large area, moving constantly trying to find the hot spot we had steady action right through the day. Nothing hot and heavy until the last hour when we had 5 on at once (3 fell off ) a triple and a couple of double headers had us heading back to the dock with 39 releases from 49 bites. Awesome fishing guys, 69 sailfish released from 84 bites in 2 days is a great achievement and all just a couple of hours flight from home!!
Nothing but high praise for the new boat, the great food, staff and lodgings down at SAILFISH OASIS had the guys promising that this will be an annual pilgrimage. Good stuff, we look forward to fishing with you next year!
Larry Fagg with one of many......
Still some availabilities though dates are filling fast, especially from January through May. If you have the opportunity to get down here in November or December do it, these are traditionally good months and we can put a trip together for you at a great price. FISHING ON THE UP......

November 1st through the 3rd ALLURE co-owner Hill Dishman was down with Randy Spencer, Claude Seago, Andre Feucht and Chief Tauzin. Fishing had been slow with an offshore current to the east so we started out on the eastern side of the pocket about 26NM. From all the heavy rain the previous weeks lots of trash lines out there so we concentrated our efforts around these. Covering alot of ground we released 4 from 5 sailfish bites and boated 5 big mahi mahi.
With that strong current pushing off we ran out to the west the following day, off the edge we found more of the same, some good current lines holding though a switch in the current with it pushing inshore. Kind of a slow start with just 1 release from 2 bites in the morning session. Midday we worked a big area holding logs and trash and spent a couple of hours catching nice sized mahi's to about 30lb, they were thick out there...
Great sport and good eating, they were crashing the teasers and baits with aggression, the bait was loaded under a big 'grass' mat and every pass they'd come flying into the spread....
After catching enough for the bin we trolled further off the edge, down to the west and in the last hour and half of the day we had 8 sailfish bites finishing the day with 6 releases from 10 bites and good idea of where to concentrate our efforts the next day.
Hill Dishman took the helm the next day out and found the fish back out over the edge in the deep water. The guys had a great day out there with 27 sails in the spread, releasing 16 from 25 bites. Awesome day!! The in-coming current is a good sign and they are starting to bite. A weekend total of 26 releases from 40 bites and plenty of mahi fillets for the cooler bag to take home.
Fishing most weekends from here on in to Christmas and then we are looking at most days from there on in. We still have openings so get in touch to secure the dates available. The new boat, ALLURE II is an awesome platform to fish from and ALLURE is as good as it ever was. Both boats the best in their class here in Guatemala.

OCTOBER 19th & 21st, sails, blues and mahi's.....

Martin and Wendy from NZ celebrating Marin's 50th b'day in Guatemala with a double header!

Just a quick report from the weekend gone. All the way from New Zealand we hosted Wendy Lord-Renner and Martin Lord and from Old Blighty (England by way of Antigua, Guatemala) George and Kate Carver along with George's mum (mom) Glenys Carver. On Saturday the 19th we took out the British contingent after a leisurely start in search of sailfish on the fly for George, a keen flyfisherman hoping to get his first billfish on the long wand.
The blue water was in close though no one was home and after a few jumps out we finally got into some action about 28NM out raising the first sailfish of the day, great tease in, great bite, though some bad luck saw the 20lb tippet pop. Some practice at least! Next time up George did it all perfectly and released his first billfish on the fly after a flurry of jumps and long runs by the 90lb+ sail.
First billfish on the fly for George Carver
With one down it was easy from here on in and he released another soon after of about 65lb's. We brought out the spinning tackle for Kate after that and raised another 2 sails missing one as well as landing a few mahi mahi. In the dying minutes of the day with Gladys up next on the flyrod we raised a blue of about 300lb's on the long teaser, the fish came in deep on the small chugger before coming up aggressively though it disappeared at the business end. 5 sails raised with 2 from 3 bites on the fly, some good mahi's and a great day had by all.

Monday 21st Martin and Wendy joined us for the day, we started on the conventional tackle and Martin was soon into it pitching a bait to his first billfish off the bridge teaser. He did it all right and came tight a nice fish...Soon after a double header for the pair and some good mahi action as well keeping the momentum going for the day....
Martin with a typical sized 'dorado'
Being another keen flyfisherman he was into getting the fly gear out and while down on the deck giving instructions we raised a hot fish on the flat teaser, no better way to practice than with the real thing! Everything went as it should, a great cast, hot bite and  he was on.......

For the day, 7 raises, 3 from 5 on the bait, a couple raised on the fly with just the one bite and successful release as well as several mahi's. With the pair due to fly out the following day in the early evening we had a few hours out the next morning before rushing them to the airport. At just 12NM from the breakwall at the 600ft curve, set up for flyfishing, we raised a blue of about 250-300lbs that teased in though again, another fish that disappeared at the business end. 40min later we raised another, you never know, it may well have been the same fish, got the bait back this time and the marlin slashed at the bait though never took it. Knowing there were some in the area we skip baited a small bonito and mackerel through the area for about an hour with no joy. After  that we trolled up the edge and came back through the area just before having to leave, another blue on the bridge teaser, this one about 200lb stayed deep and under the pitched mackerel making no attempt at it. While making a turn to get back to the spot we raised a smaller blue of about 150lbs hot on the short teaser, all over it, this one for sure was going to bite. We switched the teaser for the mack, the fish made a half lunge at it and again, another one to disappear!! No time to keep trying. Frustrating stuff, 4 blues in the spread and not one bite, you guys'll have to make the trek back here another day and we'll get you on one next time.......
They are around though and their attitude will change. In 3 and bit days of fishing on the new boat here in Guatemala we have had 9 blues up, she has the hum!
Dates are starting to fill up especially January through April though still availability for both boats. November and December traditionally good fishing months and dates are available. Don't miss out, we're confident of a great season ahead.

Fishing Last Week....

We had a short one dayer out last week on the Bertram, ALLURE, with a group of young entrepreneur's (YEO) from Canada in Guatemala for a short visit.  For their last day here they decided on a day out on the Pacific......
David Notte, Jay Martin, Rick Lau, Nick Popoff, Todd Johnston and Jason Lindstron.
We had great weather and an awesome day on the water, out to the east about 20NM we were straight into the mahi mahi.....they were thick and after catching enough to eat we started releasing them as we couldn't get out of them. All nice fish in the 10-15lb range. After wearing the guys out on these we looked for some billfish and found some action after an hour or so of looking. We released 3 from 4 sails as well as a double header.
Jason and Todd with their first billfish releases...
                                               And David...the instigator.......

All in all a great day on the water followed by a few cocktails and a night on the town in Antigua. Great way to finish a trip!

Counting down to the start of the season here, the weather has been good and the fishing the same so no reason not to come down. Still finishing off some boat maintenance and the lodge is about a week or so away from completing the renovations and we'll be ready to go with the best of the best that Guatemala has to offer as far as boats, crews and accommodations go. Still some very good deals to be had for November and December!!

GREAT START ON NEW ALLURE

Nico Dorion, Thane Stenner, Alston Gardner, Yusef Zohnny and Allen Wiekenkamp.

Sept 22nd we fished with our friend Nico Dorion from Guatemala City who is a regular with us, and his international crew of the above. Alston Gardner from North Carolina and Allen Wiekenkamp from Canada have both been down before though it was a first for Thane Stenner and Yusef Zohnny both from Canada as well.
Despite the new ALLURE being here since late July this was our first fishing day on her here in Guatemala. The guys were impressed with the open, comfortable lay-out, though better then all of that she fished well and we had a great day out there. With reports of green water to the west we went about 32NM to the east and got into a couple of sailfish bites early on and raised a blue marlin that didn't stick around too long. From there on we had fairly steady sailfish action as well as this double header for Nico and Alston...
This was followed shortly after with Yusef hooking into his first ever blue marlin, the fish came in hot on the short teaser and switched to the pitched mackerel with an aggressive bite right at the transom. A tough feisty fish pushing 200lb it gave him a real work out on the 50lb stand-up gear though he did a great job on the rod getting it boat side for the release.
A double header of mahi's right on lunch hour made for some great fish taco's and soon after Nico got locked into a nice blue of about 300lb's, another very aggressive teaser fish made for an exciting bite and it seemed well hooked, the fish jumped several times and we got near the release when the hook pulled about 10min into the fight. Disappointing. With a few more sailfish releases we were winding down our day when another blue tore into the spread crashing the 2 short teasers. It then moved to the long teaser and came in fast, this was the hottest fish of the day and the crew did a great job clearing the teasers getting the pitch bait back in time and what a spectacular bite.....Allen was up next and into this fish, his first blue marlin, another tough one staying down and dirty for the majority of the fight he did well.
A solid 250lb blue for Allen topped off a great day on the water, and what a first day out for the new ALLURE. 4 blue marlin raised, releasing 2 from 3 bites, 14 sailfish up in the spread with 9 releases from 12 bites and a couple of mahi's. We had a good time with Nico and crew and hope to see you guys back down here soon.
The boat is sweet, definitely THE boat to fish on down here in Guatemala. Get in touch now, the fishing is good and I think it is going to get better. We have availability in October, November and December with some very good deals.

COUNTING DOWN......

Blue marlin for ALLURE on the trip down to GUATEMALA

IT's the time of year for maintenance and that's what we have been doing, right now ALLURE II is out of the water getting a bottom job, new non-skid on the decks and we are replacing the eisenglass curtains up on the bridge. On the new ALLURE we are getting the tackle tuned up and rigging all the terminal gear to be ready for the new season about to start. Both boats are the best in their class here in Guatemala with the best equipment and experienced crews.
Down at the OASIS Lodge there has also been plenty of activity and regulars will note several improvements. Basically we will be ready to go for mid-October, the boats and lodge will all be in perfect condition. We have the same staff at the lodge with Nick our manager returning along with Karina and Carlos. Carlos our very popular chef has completed 2 INTECAP chef courses here over the summer. This culminated in he and his team finishing 2nd overall in the National Final at the "Feria Gastronomica" at Tikal Futura in Guatemala City featuring top national and international chef's in the judging panel!! He has also been working at one of the top restaurants here in Antigua over the last few months so he is looking forward to running the kitchen back at SAILFISH OASIS, so are we!

To the fishing. The summer months have once again produced good numbers of sailfish, dorado and blue marlin and things tend to pick up in November and December. These over the past 10 years that I have been here have generally been CONSISTENTLY some of the best months to target those big sailfish bites and of course we see our fair share of blue marlin with yellowfin tuna and dorado mixing it up. It really is a great time of year and the weather then is hard to beat also....and right now we are offering a 15% discount on advertised rates for these months, November and December. Take advantage of this deal and we'll ensure the best time possible here in Guatemala.
Also, take advantage of our REFERRAL DEAL**. Refer us to your fishing friends and we will give you a 20% discount on our listed website rates for your next trip!! Get in contact with us for details and get into some of the best fishing on the planet.

JUNE-JULY REPORT

June and July we had a couple of groups come through the Oasis Lodge that both had some very good fishing. In the meanwhile I went up to Stuart, Florida to collect the new ALLURE that had been in the yard at A&J's Boatworks for the previous 3 months bought by owners Hill Dishman and Craig Johnson. The boat is sweet, the perfect day charter boat for Guatemala and after her time in the yard she is ready to go. A 40ft cold-molded open bulkhead boat built by Virginia
Beach boat builder Nelva Capps and Capps Boatworks......
She had been through a pre-purchase restoration which included new power and paint and we finished her off in the yard with new teak decks, covering boards, gen-set and an aft enclosure for the 2 x new kick ass 16000BTU AC units. This means being able to fish with the polycarbonate center enclosure folded up and still being right there in the fishing action and being able to cool off in the open cabin. Those new AC units really will make the difference on those hot days. The cockpit is huge, a great fishing platform and all in all she is THE perfect charter boat for Guatemala. After a 2519 nm delivery from Stuart through the Caribbean, Panama Canal and up the Pacific side to Guatemala we can say she runs like a dream, some fairly hefty seas on the Caribbean side tested her out and she passed with flying colors. We can't wait to start fishing her here in Guatemala and look forward to the up-coming season, she is ready to go right now and with some of the fishing we have been having lately why wait??
While away on June 14th and 15th Chief Tauzin came down with a 2 boat group of Travis Findley, Spencer Morgan, Stu Stover, Charlie Hansen, Jonathan Lindsey and JP Michel. What a couple of days fishing and a great time down at the lodge for the group with the guys releasing 101 sailfish in two days from over 150 bites and 208 sailfish raised, throw in a few mahi's and 3 blue marlin raised what an excellent mid June trip. Great weather during the days and some rain in the evenings to cool things off meant a nice temperate climate.....

July 5th and 6th we welcomed to Guatemala the Dishman family of Jamie and Cindy with Annie and Jim, the Wilson family of Burnice and Brenda with son's Brock and Brandtley and Mark and Kim Bellard all from Beaumont, Texas. The group started off their trip at La Reunion golf course and resort enjoying a couple days of golf and shopping in Anigua and ended up with 2 days of fishing.

The group split it up with fishing and golf the first day and the second day some content to sit around the pool and enjoy their time at the Oasis and the others out fishing. Good fishing as well with 15 sailfish released and well over 40 mahi mahi boated....
Annie Dishman with one of many great eating sized dorado/mahi's
Brock and Annie with one of many sails for the trip.

July 4th-6th 2013. As my 20yr old son said - "This is the greatest trip ever!" The fishing was amazing - 2 days - 15 sailfish and 40+ dorado. Our family of four enjoyed the Lodge and the staff immensely. The staff created the most fabulous meals, fresh fish, fresh fruits and the best vegetables! The accommodations were excellent and so relaxing! Thanks for your hospitality. The Wilson family, Beaumont, Texas.

Great fishing year round here in Guatemala! We are starting to fill up dates for the up-coming season so book now to avoid disappointment. The new boat will be a dream to fish off and we'll get you on the fish.....
